The 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Louisiana National Guard is shipping out this week for a nearly year-long deployment to the Middle East. A portion of southeast Louisiana is now in the cone of uncertainty for Tropical Storm Eta. The storm is expected to slowly drift north as the week goes along, but State Climatologist Barry Keim still expects a landfall to the east of us…

The National Hurricane Center says Eta could make landfall as a tropical depression this weekend near the Florida-Alabama line.

A state judge has sentenced Holden Matthews, the man convicted of burning down three historically black churches in St. Landry Parish in 2019, to 25 years in prison. He’ll serve this sentence at the same time as he serves a 25-year federal prison sentence. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning credits church members for helping to solve the case…
