Total jobs lost in the first half of this year are nearly double the number the state saw after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. That’s according to U-L Lafayette Economist Gary Wagner, who says the total number of jobs has dropped by more than 10-percent in 2020.

Wagner says he expects to see job growth in the second half of 2020, but not enough to offset the job losses for the first half of the year.

Governor John Bel Edwards is asking college students to do their part in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Edwards says that means wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and avoid gatherings with people who are not following this guidance…

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin is pushing forward with his fall election plan even though Governor Edwards says its woefully inadequate, because of the restrictions placed on who can request a mail-in ballot. Two women are accusing former LSU running back Derrius Guice of rape. The victims tell the USA Today the sexual assaults occurred when Guice was a freshman at LSU in 2016. This comes on the heels of the Washington Football Team releasing Guice after he was arrested on domestic violence charges on August seventh. LSU beat reporter Glen Guilbeau for the USA Today Network says reporters were working on this investigative piece before Guice was arrested…
