The Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s public school private school split in sports like football will remain even though a proposal to end the split received a majority of the votes, but it did not clear the 2/3rd vote needed for passage.

The World Health Organization declares the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency as the number of infections has soared pasted 8,000 worldwide. State Immunization Director Dr. Frank Welch says the general risk of infection for the ordinary Louisianan is pretty low right now.

AAA is warning of the potential impacts that legalization of recreational marijuana could have on Louisiana roadways ahead of the legislative session that begins in March.  AAA spokesperson Don Redman says drivers are already very nonchalant about toking and driving as 70% think they won’t be caught, and it has the potential to get worse.
