The exception is the race for Insurance Commissioner, where Republican Tim Temple is self-funding a million-dollar campaign to unseat 13-year Republican incumbent Jim Donelon. The public often voices a desire for change, but – UL Lafayette Poli Sci Professor Pearson Cross says outcome tends not reflect that due to the advantages of incumbency.
A Shreveport woman is charged with cruelty to a juvenile and two counts of insurance fraud after a bus accident where she intentionally injured her 23-month old child. State Police Trooper Brent Hardy says the arrest of 38-year-old Deidra Lee comes after an investigation into the incident that took place on a city bus.

The Saints play their first preseason game tonight against the Vikings. The spotlight is on backup QB Teddy Bridgewater, who’s expect to get a lot of snaps, “Locked on Saints” podcast host Ross Jackson says its Teddy’s time to shine.
It’s the first of four preseason games with the regular season begins September 9 at the Dome against The Texans. Kickoff tonight is at 7pm.
Former LSU head coach Les Miles recently discussed what could have been if he had been offered his dream job as coach of the Michigan Wolverines. In an interview with ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit “The Mad Hatter” opened up about his time at LSU and even mentioned the 2007 National Championship. Miles said that victory did give him joy with LSU allowing him to score a win over one his old rivals Ohio State. He then said LSU was a “decent” job but in the end is upset that obstacles have kept him from heading home to Michigan.
