This past Saturday proved to make a huge impact on locally owned shops and restaurants as the movement known as “Small Business Saturday” saw big numbers. National Federation of Independent Business Louisiana spokesperson Dawn Starns says according to a recent survey, it was a record setting year.
Cut 6 (07) “…that’s just phenomenal.”
Small Business Saturday was first recognized in 2010 and has seen a growth in awareness over the years as an estimated 104 million consumers participated in the day this year. Starns says it’s a positive reflection of the economic outlook.
Starns says looking at the full shopping period between Thanksgiving and Christmas, more than two-thirds of small business owners expect sales to be stronger than 2017.

Reports have pegged Texas A&M Head Coach Jimbo Fisher’s nephew, Cole Fisher as the assailant who attacked LSU Analyst Steve Kragthorpe after the Aggies 74-72 win over LSU Saturday night. USA Today Reporter Glen Guilbeau says the fight started Dameyune Craig, who was fired by Coach O after one year as an assistant at LSU…
Guilbeau was interviewed on Talk Louisiana.
That’s when Cole Fisher allegedly decked Kragthorpe, who suffers from Parkinson’s, right where his pacemaker is embedded. After that former LSU running back and current Tiger Staffer Kevin Faulk says stepped in to protect a good friend, and went to town on Fisher.
Guilbeau says even though Faulk was fighting in defense of someone, it’s likely he’ll face repercussions if the SEC decides to take administrative action.
The seven overtime barnburner was the highlight of a night full of controversy, something Guilbeau says likely won’t be forgotten, or forgiven by fans of both teams.
LSU ends the regular season 9 and 3 with a bowl game to go.
