LSU men’s basketball player Wayde Sims was fatally shot during the overnight hours near the Southern University campus. Baton Rouge Police Sergeant Don Coppola says a fluid investigation is underway and it’s a sad for the capitol city…

Coppola says they are talking with witnesses and different videos have surfaced showing an altercation before the shooting. Athletic Director Joe Alleva says this is his saddest day of his career.

Later tonight LSU will unveil a statue of the late Heisman Trophy Winner Billy Cannon. The LSU Athletic Hall of Fame Committee approved a proposal for a statue to be erected to honor Cannon, before he passed away last May. His daughter, Bunnie Cannon, says her father had input on the statue’s design…

Superintendent of Education John White says annual letter grades for Louisiana’s public schools will be released November eighth. White says the rating system has been changed in an effort to make students more competitive with their peers in other states. The Advocate reports the number of F-rated schools will rise to 57-percent.
