LSU Health New Orleans is joining an international study that’s showing positive results in the search for alternatives to knee replacement for those who suffer chronic pain. They’re the first US based organization to join the study. Associate Professor Vinod Dasa says the CartiHeal system cores out the arthritic regions of the knee, and then begins the process of regrowth.

Cut 4 (10) “…cartilage”

But it’s early on in the process, so the treatment is not yet approved for the full general public. Dasa says along with a general health screening, there are some specific restrictions for participation.

Cut 5 (08) “…or surgeries”

Patients at LSU Health New Orleans who meet the criteria, and are not receiving knee replacements are eligible for the trail.

Vinod says the early results have been promising, and if the trial continues its success it could be a big relief for thousands who suffer, but are not eligible for traditional knee replacements.

Cut 6 (11) “…of people”

More information on the study and eligibility to participate in it is available at www.CartiHeal.com.

Senator John Kennedy had a front row seat to the Judiciary Supreme Court confirmation hearing for Judge Brett Kavanagh that got a bit rowdy between the protesters and Democrats on the committee who excoriated their colleagues to refusing to release what they say are key documents about the judge. Kennedy waded in, saying the judicial selection process wasn’t the place for these kinds of fights.

Cut 7 (09) “…spiritually”

Protesters, frequently vocally interrupted the proceedings, and at one point the father of a Parkland High shooting victim approached Kavanaugh, but his handshake was rejected.

Kennedy reiterated his earlier position that he’s looking for a Justice who will be a strict originalist interpreter of the constitution.

Cut 8 (09)  “…to be.”

But the Senator says in due time the Judge’s record will be scrutinized.

Cut 9 (11)  “…have discretion”

Eyes across the Bayou State continue to monitor the impact of Gordon.  National Weather Service Meteorologist Eric Carpenter says with Gordon’s move inland, the storm should slow down as northern portions of the state feels the impact of rain.

Cut 10 (07)   “…see rainfall increase.“
Carpenter says not only should residents prepare for the storm to slow down, but to possibly even come to a halt over the state.

Cut 11 (11) “…heavy rain threat.”

Carpenter says the amount of rain to brace for depends on where the storm happens to finally stall.

Cut 12 (07) “…end up being light.”

11th ranked LSU will play the rest of the season without its top pass rusher as Coach Ed Orgeron says K’Lavon Chaisson suffered a knee injury in the win over the Miami Hurricanes

Cut 16 (20) “. that position”

Chaisson plays the “Buck” position in Dave Aranda’s defense. Sophomore Andre Anthony replaced Chaisson after he suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. Sophomore Ray Thornton, JUCO transfer Travez Moore and freshman Jarell Cherry could also see more time on the field.

LSU threw for just 140 yards in the win over the Hurricanes. Orgeron says the passing game can improve and it starts with the offensive line giving quarterback Joe Burrow more time to throw

Cut 17 (20)  “good defense”

Burrow expects the chemistry with the receivers will only get better. And he says he didn’t have a problem throwing the football just 24 times

Cut 18 (20) “…my ability”
