A bill has been filed in the regular session to legalize sports betting in Louisiana. The U-S Supreme Court could soon issue a ruling that legalizes sports betting across the country. New Roads Representative Major Thibaut says several other states are preparing to allow sports betting and he believes Louisiana should be prepared to regulate it too…

Thibaut says thousands of Louisiana sports fans already gamble on the games. He says if the Supreme Court rules in favor of New Jersey and other states, it makes sense to give the Louisiana Gaming Control Board to regulate sports betting and the state can benefit from new revenues…

Under Thibaut’s bill, sports betting parlors would be allowed at the state’s four horse racing tracks in New Orleans, Vinton, Opelousas and Bossier City. Thibaut says a referendum will also be needed in those parishes and the race tracks would also be able to provide more gambling options

A pro-life movie that highlights the journey of Metairie native and current LSU law student David Scotton meeting his birth parents for the first time will premiere online tonight. Scotton, says “I Lived on Parker Avenue” tells the story of his adoptive parents and his journey to find his birth mom in Indiana and her choice of choosing adoption over abortion…

After contacting his birth mother, Melissa Coles, on Facebook in 2011, he discovered he had a biological sister and biological half-sister. It took over a year before Scotton gained enough courage to decide to meet them in person. Scotton at first didn’t want to allow filmmaker Phillip Braun and producer Benjamin Clapper to put his story to film, but ultimately decided it was worth it…

The film has been presented at a film festival in Los Angeles and has been nominated for an award for Best Documentary-Short Category. Scotton says the way the story is presented is the reason behind it’s success…

There is a new way to grocery shop in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas without leaving your home. California-based Instacart begins home delivery service for over 600-thousand Louisiana households starting today. Area Manager Ethan Mergen says you can let Instacart do all the work…

The Bonnet Carre Spillway will be opened for just the twelfth time today as the Mississippi River swells, and threatens to tops levees across southeast Louisiana. The spillway is expected to run at about half capacity for three weeks, and will drain the river into some of the 320 pods that are controlled by timber locks. Army Corps of Engineers Colonel Michael Clancy says the construction is old tech, but runs just fine.

The water will be released into Lake Ponchatrain, which has traditionally worried ecologists. Clancy says the Corps has a plan in place to make sure the damage is contain.

The opening of the spillway is an impressive sight, as up to 250,000 cubic feet of water per second passes through the gates. Clancy says, its also open to the public.

LSU basketball begins play tonight in the SEC Tournament as they’ll tip it off against Mississippi State at 6 PM. The Tigers just beat the Bulldogs by 21 points. LSU can receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament if they win four games over the next four days. Coach Will Wade admits that will be tough for his team

Wade says there’s a lot of unknowns going into tonight’s game against State after winning in convincing fashion on Saturday in Baton Rouge…

LSU goes into the SEC Tournament with a 17-13 record and a win tonight could at least secure a home game in the NIT next week. Wade says his players want this season to go as long as it can possibly go…
