Governor John Bel Edwards has hinted at calling another special session at the end of the regular session to continue to find a way to cover the loss of one-billion-dollars. Higher Education Commissioner Joe Rallo says legislators have to consider funding both TOPS and higher education. One can’t go without the other…

Even with the state facing a billion dollar shortfall, Louisiana will receive an additional 300-million dollars in state tax revenues, due to changes made as a result of the federal tax overhaul. Baton Rouge Representative Edmond Jordan has filed a bill legalizing the recreational use of marijuana and sets up a way to tax the sale of cannabis. Baton Rouge and New Orleans recently approved ordinances that decreased the penalties when possessing small amounts of marijuana. Jordan says making it legal statewide is the next obvious step…
