During a FAST Act hearing in Washington, Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves expressed his frustrations over the barrier between lanes of I-12 in Livingston Parish he believes contributed to some of the flooding last year. He says offsetting walls could be a solution, as it would leave gaps to allow the water to drain..:

It’s been nearly a year since the August flood, yet nothing has been done to address the issue.
As the race for State Treasurer is underway, now might be a good time to start the conversation about eliminating the position for good. That’s according Jeremy Alford, the publisher of LaPolitics.com, who says candidates could at least address the idea of merging this position with another department…:

He says there are currently 16 states that don’t elect their state treasurer.
NOLA Brewing Company is the latest to release a collegiate beer. It’s the Green Wave Beer for Tulane and Brewery president Kirk Coco says it’s been in the works for a while but they had to wait to see what happened with a bill seeking to end university beers. He’s glad the measure failed because the argument that they promote underage drinking is ridiculous:

Community leaders in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida are pushing for a new passenger train that would run through the Gulf Coast. The group is asking Congress to consider two Amtrak routes, one from New Orleans to Orlando daily, and a round trip route from The Big Easy to Mobile.
