US Senate candidate Charles Boustany has filed a lawsuit against the author of a book that claims the congressmen was somehow involved with one of the prostitutes killed in Jefferson Davis Parish. The defamation lawsuit was filed in Lafayette Parish and asks for damages and an injunction banning further publication of “Murder in the Bayou” by Ethan Brown. Brown has said he stands by what he says in the book.

Louisiana has received a $67 million federal grant to better prepare new teachers and provide more support for rural school districts. Assistant Talent Superintendent Hannah Dietsch says much of the grant money will go towards making sure teachers are prepared for the classroom before they begin their careers in education…:

The money will be dispersed among 16 rural school systems, reaching a total of 137 schools as part of an effort to better prepare educators.

Could Tulane and LSU’s upcoming games be affected by the extremely dangerous Hurricane Matthew? The National Hurricane Center says the Category 4 storm made landfall in western Haiti this morning, with max winds near 145 miles per hour. The updated track has the storm potentially passing along or near the east coast of Florida late Thursday into Friday afternoon. Tulane is scheduled to play UCF Friday at 7 p.m. CDT in Orlando, while LSU and Florida are slated to kick off at 11 a.m. CDT Saturday in Gainesville.
