A Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy has fatally shot a suspect inside a newspaper warehouse. The shooting ended a foot chase. Deputies received a call before midnight last night about two people “rolling shiny objects down a street.” The sheriff’s office the says the man shot had a nine millimeter handgun. No word on what happened to the other suspect or an identity of the man who was killed.

The Climate Prediction Center is calling for above average temperatures for the next three months. State Climatologist Barry Keim says 2015 was the warmest on record dating back to the 1880s and 2016 could be another record breaker….

High tempeatures could struggle to get into the 90s today, as there’s a lot of rain falling across the state this morning.

Today at the Democratic National Convention, pro-life Democrats, will honor Governor John Bel Edwards with the Governor Casey Whole Life Leadership Award. Executive Director of Democrats for Life, Kristen Day, says Governor Casey was a pro-life governor in Pennsylvania who also advocated for women’s rights and higher minimum wage, so Governor Edwards was a clear choice for the award….

Day says Edwards is the only Democratic governor in the south, and she thinks that has a lot to do with him being pro-life.

Former state legislator Rick Gallot is the new president of Grambling State. The historically black school has seen 10 different presidents in the last 25 years, but Gallot plans to have the job for a long time…

Gallot is a 1987 graduate of the school and plans to to reinstate Grambling’s undergraduate nursing program.
