A hearing date has been set in Governor Bobby Jindal’s federal lawsuit against the Obama administration over Common Core. In the suit, Jindal accuses the US Department of Education of illegally using federal money to convince states to adopt the controversial education standards. US District Judge Shelly Dick will consider the governor’s claims on November 20th.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a 40-year-old Pineville man is dead after a confrontation with officers from the Pineville Police Department. RPSO Lt. Tommy Carnline says when Pineville Police responded to a 9-1-1 call Monday morning, they were confronted by a subject brandishing a large sword. Carnline says the subject then charged toward one of the officers…

5th District Congressman Vance McAllister apparently does not have the support of the “Duck Dynasty” family as he seeks re-election this fall. LaPolitics-dot-com publisher Jeremy Alford says Phil Robertson took some verbal jabs at McAllister at a couple of events over the weekend. Alford says McAllister is disappointed that Robertson is speaking against the words he writes about in his books…
