Lafayette native Mondo Duplantis does it again. Competing in Tokyo, he has broken the world pole vault record for the 14th time. Though Duplantis was born and raised in Louisiana, he competes for his mother’s native country of Sweden. He had already won his meet on Monday and on his third attempt, he broke the record again by clearing the bar at 20 feet, 8 inches. The first time he broke the world record was in 2020 clearing 20 feet 2.9 inches.

LSU football coach Brian Kelly apologized to WBRZ-TV sports director Michael Cauble for going off on him after he questioned the coach about the offence’s performance following Saturday night’s 20-10 win over Florida. Kelly says he must handle himself in a better fashion…

Last week, in the wake of the murder of conservative Charlie Kirk, someone vandalized Louisiana Democratic Party headquarters in Baton Rouge. They spray-painted the word “murderers” outside the building. Executive Director Dadrius (“darius”) Lanus says the Louisiana Democratic Party will never condone violence against anyone, including its political opponents.

Ground was broken today on a massive liquefied natural gas production and export facility in Calcasieu Parish, named Louisiana LNG. Australian energy firm, Woodside Energy Group, is spending 17-point-five billion dollars to build facility.
