The state Office of Motor Vehicles says they are working extra hours to try to address concerns over letters drivers are getting for not paying expired auto insurance fines. 1.2 million letters were sent out for lapsed insurance. The US Department of Ag and Forestry says 45 parishes in Louisiana are in such horrible drought that farmers and ranchers are eligible for disaster aid. Those qualified have eight months to apply for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency.
