Former LSU Pitcher Paul Skenes threw a no-hitter through seven innings in the Pirates 1-0 win over the first-place Brewers yesterday. Skenes struck out 11 with 99 pitches matching his career high set in his first road start against the Cubs May 17 which was another no-hit outing. Skenes joins Nolan Ryan as the only pitchers with multiple 6-plus inning outings with zero hits and 11 or more strikeouts in one season. The start was Skenes’s eighth straight with at least 7 strikeouts, the longest such streak in Pirates history. The MLB All-Star Game is set for July 16 as Skenes strengthens his campaign to receive a starting spot. His 11 starts this season would tie the fewest in a career entering an All-Star start.
