Wildfires continue to burn in Beauregard parish, most notably the Tiger Island fire. The Louisiana Department of agriculture and Forestry Enforcement Division has determined the fire is a result of arson. LDAF agents are looking for the person responsible. If you have any information regarding the fire, contact Beauregard Parish Sheriff, the State fire marshall, or LDAF. All calls are anonymous and the Louisiana Forestry Association is offering up to $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

The U.S. Fish and wildlife service has plugged more than 500 orphaned well sites in the state since January thanks to 25 million dollars in funding from the Infrastructure Law and another 12 million. Louisiana De Courreges

The state has roughly 45 hundred orphaned well sites, most are in the Shreveport-Monroe area.

The National Republican Governors Association is entering the Louisiana race with statewide TV ad attacks that target Democrat Shawn Wilson. ULM Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says the ad blames Wilson for the state road issues

Cross says the attack ad indicates the NRGA believes frontrunner Republican Jeff Landry will most likely face Wilson in a runoff.

It’s Labor Day. So what does the labor market look like in Louisiana? We asked University of Louisiana at Lafayette Economist Gary Wagner who says construction, education, and health service are leading the way. He says there’s also been an uptick in the oil and gas sector.
