Legislation to give homeowners the right to hire a public adjuster to handle property insurance claims goes into effect on August first. Bill author Chalmette Representative Ray Garafalo says it’s part of a package of bills aimed at easing the state’s property insurance crisis…:

He says the new law serves notice to insurers that their customers DO have the right to a third-party assessment of one’s damage.

Taxes on e-cigarettes and vape products will increase next month to fund pay raises for state police. Bill author, Covington Representative Paul Hollis says the new law also addressed other factors involving the sale of vape products.
