The state budget picture looks good. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says the state has a 450-million dollars to spend in surplus money for the fiscal year that ended in June. Legislative leaders propose the money should go towards infrastructure projects and Dardenne says the governor has his own priorities…

A national survey of small businesses finds that half of them are unable to fill job openings. NFIB state director Dawn McVea says to combat the problem, 32-percent of mom and pop businesses say they will continue to raise wages to attract workers…

It’s been a difficult time for former LSU running back Kevin Faulk. The school’s all-time leading rusher got some great news a few days ago when he learned he’s been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. But his family continues to grieve over the death of his 19-year-old daughter and he was not retained as LSU’s running backs coach by new head coach Brian Kelly. But Faulk says being around the house is the best thing for him now…
