Many students are behind the curve due to the pandemic and the State Department of Education hopes to reverse that with a new tutoring program. Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley says the Accelerate program focuses on bolstering the math and English language arts education they already receive in regular class hours.

Teacher Leader Advisors are developing the tutoring lessons and the first set of lessons in grades K-through-eighth grade will be released this spring.

Three men are charged with two counts of first-degree murder each for the homicides of two Montegut women last month. Brooke Thorington has more on the alleged murder for hire scheme.

Shreveport police say the man who attacked two hospital employees with a large knife at the Ochsner LSU Health Hospital has been arrested. One of the victim’s is the suspect’s mother. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old ZaOkoye Chatman and authorities believe Chatman also killed a man Sunday at a gas station in New Orleans with a machete.
