He’s missed 24 straight games with a left toe contusion. Zion Williamson also remains weeks away from returning because of a hamstring injury.

The fifth ranked LSU women’s basketball team keeps rolling. They improved to 18-0 yesterday with an 84-54 win over Auburn.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals are advancing in the NFL playoffs after beating Baltimore in a hard fought 24-17 game last night in Cincinnati….

Rates of COVID-19 cases and deaths surge among nursing home residents and staff nationwide including here in Louisiana, because most residents and staff are not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations. That’s according to the Director of Advocacy for the AARP, Andrew Muhl…:

During December in Louisiana, resident cases went from 460 to just over one-thousand, while staff cases went up from 245 to 533 during the same period.

A new study from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy indicates if Louisiana updates its building energy codes, energy use in new buildings could be cut by as much as 20% in residential and 32 percent in commercial structures. Mike Waite, is a senior manager with ACEEE:

An LSU student has died, after being hit by a car early Sunday morning in Baton Rouge. Madison Brooks was a sophomore and a sorority member. Sheriff’s deputies say she was standing in the middle of the roadway at 3am for unknown reasons when she was hit by traffic. The crash is under investigation.

Lake Charles attorney Hunter Lundy is running as an independent.

Louisiana Tech University Police have identified the suspect responsible for bringing a firearm on campus and vandalizing the Integrated Engineering and Science Building on New Year’s Eve. 30-year-old Jacob Roberts, a La-Tech student is currently in jail in Rogers, Arkansas on unrelated charges.  Local police are currently working to have him extradited back to Louisiana. He’s charged with damaging the building’s windows with a firearm.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says he is particularly proud of passing his “No Surprises Act” last January which prevents patients from receiving medical bills they were not expecting from a procedure they thought insurance covered…:

COVID nursing home deaths nationwide increased by 14% during the end of December, that’s according to AARP’s COVID dashboard. Louisiana AARP Director of Advocacy Andrew Muhl says they’ll continue to encourage for better safety measures.

Nursing home deaths nationwide increased by 14% during the end of December. Since the beginning of the pandemic 3,626 nursing home residents have died from the virus, and 13 more died at the end of December. Muhl says they’ll continue to advocate for better safety measures.

Attorney General Jeff Landry leads those candidates in fundraising for the race. His campaign reports over $5-million cash on hand, with well over a million in Political action Committee money, plus the backing and resources of the state Republican Party.   Pinsonat says it was a brilliant strategy and fellow candidates are now forced to try and catch up…:
