A Canadian man is under arrest after he allegedly tried to solicit a young girl in Louisiana. Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain says 35-year-old Eddy Butler thought he was engaging in a lewd conversation with a child, but he was talking to a Grant Parish detective. Butler sent photos of himself and the setting for those pictures was chilling.

McCain says Butler will not be extradited to Louisiana because Canadian authorities have a strong enough case to put him behind bars for a very long time.

Rates of sexual and physical violence in Louisiana have declined since 2023 according to new statewide survey by Tulane University’s Newcomb Institute. But lead researcher Anita Raj says while physical violence has decreased slightly among men, women continue to face higher risks for partner violence with more than one in four report a partner had burned, chocked, or used a weapon against them.

Trooper Jacob Pucheu (PEE-shoo) says in addition to vehicles being prohibited in the zone, coolers and ice chests won’t be allowed. Those staying in hotels inside the zone will have special procedures to get their luggage to their rooms.

Lead researcher Anita Raj says physical violence has decreased slightly among men, but women continue to face higher risks of sexual and intimate partner violence.

The Pelicans scored 74 points in the first half last night, and that scoring outburst helped New Orleans end a nine-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Bulls 143-130. Eight players scored in double figures, led by Zion Williamson who had 29 points.

LSU’s offense will have its hands full Saturday at Oklahoma, who boast the number-six scoring defense in the country. The Sooners are allowing 14 points a game, and LSU coach Frank Wilson says they have no weaknesses.

Southern and Grambling will play in the Bayou Classic in the Caesar’s Superdome for the 51st time on Saturday. Despite being 1-and-10, Southern coach Fred McNair says this game will bring out the best in his team.

However, the child that Butler thought he was talking to was actually a Grant Parish detective. McCain says where Butler was taking those pictures is horrifying.

Southern and Grambling will play in the Bayou Classic in the Caesar’s Superdome for the 51st time on Saturday. Despite being 1-and-10, Southern head coach Fred McNair says this game will bring out the best in his team.

The Grambling State Tigers are looking to beat Southern for the first time since 2021, which would give Grambling its first 8-win season since 2017. Head coach Mickey Joseph says the rivalry between the two teams will only last until the game is over.

McNair and Joseph coached together at Alcorn State in 2013, when Joseph was the wide receivers coach and McNair was the quarterbacks coach. Kickoff in New Orleans Saturday is at 1 p.m.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin spoke to the media for the first time since last Wednesday. The Rebels are set to play Mississippi State in Starkville in the annual Egg Bowl Friday. Ole Miss says it will make an announcement on Kiffin’s future the following day. Kiffin would not discuss the rumors of him leaving, but he made it clear he wants to finish the season out.

A disturbing story out of Livingston Parish as a Denham Springs teenager is accused of killing her newborn baby. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrived at the 14-year-old girl’s home and found the newborn dead inside a tote bag with extensive neck injuries. Sheriff Jason Ard says investigators believe that the woman carried the baby to full term and killed the baby immediately after giving birth.

Letlow says the foundation is already in place.

The family of Walter Stebbins who donated the board is offering the reward. Schexnayder is facing felony theft charges of a rare state artifact. He says he left the board hanging in his legislative office when he vacated it.

Senator Bill Cassidy finds himself on the defensive after the CDC changes its website to say that the claim of vaccines not causing autism is not based on evidence. Back in January, Cassidy, who’s a medical doctor by trade, voted to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary after Kennedy assured him that he would not push any conspiracies on connections between vaccines and autism. Jake Tapper confronted Cassidy about that on CNN’s “State of the Union” yesterday, saying that Kennedy lied to him during that confirmation hearing.

Despite the CDC’s website now saying that scientific studies have not ruled out the possibility that vaccines contribute to the development of autism, Cassidy says that is not true.

It was Cassidy’s vote in the Senate Finance Committee that was the deciding vote to advance Kennedy’s nomination to the full Senate, paving the way for his confirmation. Tapper asked Cassidy why he would not criticize Kennedy by name, especially after a member of his own family took him to task for slashing vaccine research funding after revealing that she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and had one year to live.
