About six-thousand taxpayers that were sent double tax returns last March have yet to repay the state. Brooke Thorington has more on what they are facing.

Former Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Burnell Lemoine was arrested New Year’s Eve after allegedly exposing himself to an undercover officer. Lemoine was jailed on obscenity charges for “intentionally exposing his penis to an undercover agent” according to the department. Lemoine was superintendent from 2007 to 2011.

29-year-old Jeremy Anderson is arrested on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder in the deaths of three homeless people in December in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul says Anderson does have a criminal history, and while they don’t have a motive yet, they’re confident it was just a one-man job…

The Ragin’ Cajuns are mourning the death of former athletics director David Walker. David Walker helped navigate the University and Lafayette communities through the aftermaths of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Voice of the Ragin Cajuns Jay Walker remembers the AD as being an effective fundraiser for the department.

More than six-thousand Louisiana taxpayers have yet to repay the state after a computer glitch last spring sent them a double tax refund. Louisiana Department of Revenue spokesperson Byron Henderson says ignoring collection letters for the amount owed will only delay the inevitable.

Collection efforts include offsetting state and Federal tax returns, wage garnishments and bank levies.
Baton Rouge area authorities arrest a suspect in the allegedly premeditated murders of three homeless people throughout the city in December. 29-year-old Jeremy Anderson is accused of killing 40-year-old Gregory Corcoran and 53-year-old Christina Fowler December 13th, and 50-year-old Tony Williams December 27th. District Attorney Hillar Moore says a lab linked the two scenes…

The Ragin’ Cajuns are mourning the death of former athletics director David Walker.  Walker served in many roles in the administration for more than thirty years, including his run as the interim AD from 2005, then officially taking the reins in 2007.  Voice of the Ragin Cajuns Jay Walker remembers his impact.

Northwestern State University has established a scholarship in memory of sports-journalist and alumna Carley McCord, who was tragically killed in a plane crash along with four others last Saturday. McCord family friend Danielle Cobb says Carley always made an impression wherever she went.

Information leading to the arrest of 29-year-old Jeremy Anderson was first reported to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s detective. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says it was on a holiday.

A Louisiana mother and son who were killed in a plane crash last Saturday will be laid to rest today. 51-year old Gretchen Vincent and her 15-year old son Walker Vincent will be remembered at a visitation and funeral service in Lafayette beginning at noon. Attendees are being asked to dress in purple and gold in memory of the two LSU fans.

Tickets to see the two big football games coming up in the Superdome are in high demand. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

Governor Edward’s reelection was the big political story of 2019 and political analyst Bernie Pisonat expects a big battle in the 2020 session that begins March over auto insurance reform. He expects Republican leadership to bring forward legislation after a similar effort was blocked by the governor last year

More than six-thousand Louisianans have yet to return the double tax refunds that were accidentally sent in March. The Louisiana Department of Revenue made the mistake of sending out twice the amount owed and 6,230 have yet to return the refund. The department is still attempting to collect approximately $1.9 million. If you owe the department you can contact them about repayment either in a lump sum or set up a payment plan.

CEO of ticket reseller Gametime Blake Griffith says compared to other years of the CFP, this year’s game has the second-highest price for tickets, with the average price around $2,300.  Griffith says there is lots of volatility to the ticket pricing with the game being held in mid-January.

Rain is falling over northwest Louisiana at this hour, but there’s the potential for one to four inches of rain to fall over a good portion of south and central Louisiana today. There’s also the potential for severe weather in the Acadiana area and over into southeast Louisiana. The National Weather Service says one or two tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

The first funeral as a result of that tragic plane crash is today. 51-year-old Gretchen Vincent and her 15-year-old son Walker will be remembered with a visitation and funeral service at Our Savior’s Church in Lafayette.

In St. Landry Parish, a Grand Coteau police officer is recovering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Authorities say the female officer was shot during a traffic stop on Highway 182 yesterday. The shooter is in custody.

After losing in last year’s Sugar Bowl, Georgia returned to the Superdome last night and beat Baylor 26 to 14. Minnesota beat Auburn 31-24, and Alabama defeated Michigan 35-16. Tide Q-B Tua Tagolivoa will announce on Monday if he’ll return for his senior season.

Former U-L Lafayette athletics director David Walker has passed away. He guided the university from 2005 to 2010, securing a two-million-dollar donation from Cox Communications, hiring current basketball coach Bob Marlin and firing Rickey Bustle, which led to the hiring of Mark Hudspeth as the football coach.

And the NBA is mourning the death of former commissioner David Stern. Stern was vital in bringing and keeping NBA basketball in New Orleans.
