The dust is settling on an LSU team that just had one of its major question marks heading into the season addressed in one afternoon as Lowell Narcisse and Justin McMillan have headed for greener, and presumably less competitive pastures. That leaves LSU with only two scholarship QBs on the roster in Ohio transfer Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan, who will fight it out to take the starting slot against Miami in the opener. Head Coach Ed Orgeron says at this point it’s still anyone’s job to take.

Cut 22

Orgeron says clearing up that conundrum means a lot more practice time for the two survivors left on the Purple and Gold Quarterback Island. O says the first practice back in action for the tigers since the departures was inspiring, showcasing two players who can see the finish line just ahead of them and are sprinting to break the tape.

O says one upside to the changes is that with two pro style QBs in tow, no matter who wins the offense will remain the same.

LSU and Clemson will play home and home games against each other starting in 2025 and 26. Both teams are nicknamed tigers and both teams play home games in stadiums known as Death Valley. The two teams have played each other three times, all in bowl games, Clemson leads the series 2-1.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Alex Okafor suffered a bone bruise in his knee and a sprained ankle during Wednesday’s practice, according to a source.
It’s unclear how long Okafor will be sidelined. But the prognosis — which was first reported by the NFL Network — is relatively good news for the sixth-year veteran, who is coming back from a torn Achilles.

Saints first round pick Marcus Davenport has missed most of the training camp so far with a nagging pulled groin. He returned to practice yesterday after missing the first pre-season game against Jacksonville. Coach Sean Peyton says Davenport is doing fine and is expected to get more playing time in practice. Peyton isn’t sure if Davenport will play tomorrow night against Arizona. He has not taken a snap in practice in two weeks. Tomorrow night’s game kicks off at 7p.m. at the Superdome.
