Meanwhile Vitter is staying busy on the campaign trail. The US Senator was in Lafayette today announcing endorsements of a group that represents Louisiana’s oil and gas industry and also several politicians from the Acadiana region, many of of whom supported Republican Scott Angelle in the primary. The endorsements for Vitter include Congressman Charles Boustany and Lafayette Mayor Joey Durel. Vitter will be in Baton Rouge tomorrow holding a “Together, Louisiana Strong” rally with other Republicans.

The Shreveport Police department says two people have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting that claimed the life of one woman and injured two others. 36-year-old Verdina Crichlow was killed. Cpl. Breck Scott says 29-year-old Elbert Fredieu was arrested in the shooting and 24-year-old Scarlett Groce as an accomplice. He says the surviving victims, 43-year-old Tammy Harris and 15-year-old Tranautica Webber, remain hospitalized…:

The NAACP of New Orleans says they’ve been getting complaints about Vitter’s ad targeting Edwards and using the words “dangerous thugs” to describe people recently released from prison. They feel it’s a veiled attempt by the US Senator to scare the white community. The Vitter campaign says they don’t plan to pull the spot.

The State Department of Education has released letter grades for Louisiana public high schools with grades 9-12, and found that the number of institutions earning an “A” went from 10 percent last year to 23 percent this year. With the election a little more than three weeks away, Dubos feels there is little time for Vitter to turn things around.

The New Orleans branch of the NAACP is calling on Vitter to remove the words “dangerous thugs” from one of his campaign commercials to describe people who get out of prison. The ad compares Edwards to President Obaama saying they have plans to release 5,500 inmates. Vitter’s spokesman Luke Bolar says they’re not about to take the ad down.

Shreveport Police have arrested two people they believe responsible for a deadly shooting that killed 36-year-old Verdina Crichlow and injured two others. Cpl. Breck Scott says 29-year-old Elbert Fredieu and 24-year-old Scarlett Groce, were taken into custody Wednesday. He says Groce was located at her home in Bossier City…
