A new report from the National Partnership for Women and Families shows that over 45% of the private sector workforce in Louisiana cannot earn paid sick days. However, National Federation of Independent Business State Director Dawn Starns says they found 75% of employers already offer some form of paid sick leave and the government should not be telling people how to run their business…

Northwestern State is picked in the fifth spot, with Nicholls State coming in at the number 10 position.

Former UL-Lafayette linebacker Justin Anderson has reportedly signed a free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Tommy Carnline says 24-year-old Ashley Ballard claims four men in a car knocked her down and kidnapped her 2-year-old child. Carnline says investigators began canvassing the area searching for the car, but things weren’t adding up…

Moore says the charges against Jennings and his teammates, Maquedius Bain and Dwayne Thomas, will likely be dropped, because the alleged victim in this case does not want to pursue charges. The D-A says he’s still waiting on some additional paperwork, before making a final determination about the case.

Legislation that will increase benefits for veterans has been unanimously approved by the US House. Republican Ralph Abraham of Richland Parish authored the measure which is his first to be approved. He says under the bill vets will receive a cost of living adjustment tied to social security.

A Deville mother has been arrested for filing a false kidnapping report. Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tommy Carnline says 24-year-old Ashley Ballard claimed that four men knocked her down, and kidnapped her 2 year-old child as she walked along the road. Carline says some items in this case didn’t add up, but they wanted to err on the side of caution….

In Terrebonne Parish, a total of eight law enforcement officers have been placed on administrative leave after killing a 45-year-old man following a car chase on Monday. State Police says Jean Falgout-who was a theft suspect-reportedly weilded a gun and pointed it at officers after he attempted to flee, before he was shot multiple times after the stop. Initial investigation shows that the gun was a pellet gun.
