Statistics show Orleans led the way with over 23,000 early voters followed by East Baton Rouge Parish with over 22,000 participating. Schedler says this year’s totals are short of the 356,000 early voters that turned out for the 2012 election…

The 2012 Presidential election had a 68-percent voter turnout. Schedler had predicted a 45 to 50-percent voter turnout for Tuesday’s election, based on historical data. Now that he has figures for this year’s early voting, he thinks turnout could go up to 54-percent. Schedler hopes voters prove his prediction wrong on November 4th…

Weekend temperatures across the state are expected to be the coolest so far this season. A cold front is moving across the state today, but Chris Nuttall, with the National Weather Service in Shreveport, says not to expect cooler temperatures just yet…

Friday night overnight lows are expected to drop into the 40s across most of the state, with some locations possibly having lows in the 30s. Saturday, afternoon highs will be in the 60s statewide. We may learn more from the US Senate candidates tonight in the final debate before Election Day. Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu will face off with Republican challengers Congressman Bill Cassidy and retired Air Force Colonel Rob Maness in debate that will be on TV live starting at 7pm.

According to a new poll, Congressman Vance McAllister could be in trouble in the 5th District race as Republican Zach Dasher improves his number. Pollster Darrell Glascock believes Ralph Abraham will get a runoff spot and if Democratic Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo can get Democrats and minorities out to the polls, then he’s got the second spot…:

State Police say a man from Robert died in an accident last night in Tangipahoa Parish. They say 44-year-old Bobby Creekmore Jr ran off Highway 190 and struck a culvert. He was not restrained and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office says nearly 236,000 registered voters participated in early voting according to early statistics released this morning. Orleans Parish led the way with just over 18,000 early voters followed by East Baton Rouge Parish with over 17,500 participating. Approximately 6.5% of Louisiana registered voters took advantage of early voting. If you did not vote early, election day is Tuesday.

State Police say a two-vehicle accident in Livingston Parish has claimed the life of a Walker woman. Authorities say 31-year-old Sylena McNeil was driving on Highway 1025 when she left the roadway, over corrected, and crossed the center line causing a truck to strike her vehicle. McNeil was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, a 16-year-old juvenile, is hospitalized with moderate injuries.

LSU Atheltic Director Joe Alleva released a statement yesterday encouraging Tiger fans to remain in the seating areas the next time LSU has a big win in Death Valley. The school has been fined five-thousand dollars for violating the SEC’s policy against fans rushing onto the field or court.
