U-L Lafayette will host Prairie View A-and-M tonight.

The LSU Tigers, who have dropped their first four SEC series of the season, are no longer ranked. They will host McNeese tonight. The Tigers could use a win as they have a tough series with Tennessee coming up. The Cowboys are 0-6 against SEC teams this year.

U-L-M is home today to take on Northwestern State. The game has been moved up to two pm in an effort to avoid expected stormy weather tonight. The Warhawks were swept in Lafayette last weekend, but they already own two wins over the Demons this season. Northwestern is 11-and-22 on the season after dropping a series at Corpus Christi.

The Pelicans continue their push for a top six seed in the Western Conference playoffs as they are at Portland tonight. New Orleans and Phoenix are currently tied for the sixth spot in the West with four regular season games left. Winnable game tonight as the Trail Blazers have the second worst record in the West.

The LSU women’s basketball team finished sixth in the final A-P Top 25 poll of the season. Lady Tigers are losing Angelica Velez to the transfer portal. The five-foot-seven point guard only played 111 minutes last season.

LSU guard Jalen Cook is entering the NBA draft. He finished the year in Coach Matt McMahon’s dog house after failing to meet the standards of the program.

LSU is out of the college baseball polls and the Ragin Cajuns are in. U-L Lafayette has the nation’s longest winning streak at 15 games and they’ve entered the national rankings in several polls for the first time since the 2017 season. D-1 Baseball has the Cajuns ranked 19th.

Suspended LSU running back Trey Holly no longer faces an attempted murder charge from a shooting in Farmerville on February 15th that injured two people. A Union Parish grand jury rejected that charge. The 19-year-old still faces one felony gun charge. Coach Brian Kelly does not expect the criminal case against Holly to drag on…

Peabody High School Coach Charles Smith has been inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame. That’s the greatest honor a person involved in basketball can receive. Smith has won more than 12-hundred games and nine state championships. But Smith says winning games is not the only reason why he coaches…

LSU has dropped out of the D-1 baseball poll, while the Ragin Cajuns are in it. The Tigers have fallen out of the Top 25 after losing their fourth consecutive SEC series. They dropped two out of three to Vanderbilt. But U-L Lafayette has now won 15 in a row after sweeping ULM and they are ranked 19th in the poll.

Legendary boys’ basketball Coach Charles Smith of Peabody High School in Alexandria will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Smith is one of a handful of high school coaches to join the ranks. Smith says it is an honor to join the elite group.

Smith won 9 state championships with the Warhorses and has coached Peabody since 1979. The Hall of Famer is Louisiana’s all-time winningest head coach with 1, 208 wins.

The Ragin Cajuns won their 15th straight game yesterday, a nine-two win over in-state foe ULM. Carson Fluno and five relievers combined on a five-hitter. Caleb Stelly had four hits and drove in four runs during the weekend.

The Cajuns will continue their homestand by hosting Prairie View A-and-M tomorrow and then Louisiana Tech on Wednesday.

Tech dropped its first home game yesterday, a nine-to-five loss to Middle Tennessee.

The LSU baseball team is now 3-9 in the SEC after losing another conference series, this time dropping two of three to Vanderbilt. Outside of Griffin Herring, most of LSU’s relievers have struggled and Coach Jay Johnson didn’t expect that…

The second-ranked LSU gymnastics squad won a regional championship Saturday night in Fayetteville. Haleigh Bryant scored a perfect ten on both the vault and bars. The Tigers are one of eight teams in the NCAA Championships starting April 18th in Fort Worth, Texas.

Despite two home runs from Tommy White, the LSU baseball team lost to Vanderbilt eight to six. The Tigers led six to five with two outs in the top of eighth when Nate Ackenhausen gave up a two-run homer. Coach Jay Johnson’s team has now lost its last five games decided by three runs or less…

The Ragin Cajuns extended their win streak to 13 in a row with a four to one win over ULM. Caleb Stelly drove in a couple of runs as the Warhawks were limited to five hits.

Louisiana Tech scored two runs in the eighth inning to snap a three-three tie and went on to beat Middle Tennessee five to three. Ethan Bates homered in the eighth inning and in the ninth inning closed the game out for his ninth save. The nine saves leads the country.

Suspended LSU running back Trey Holly no longer faces a charge of attempted second degree murder after a Union Parish Grand jury didn’t find enough evidence to indict him on that charge for a shooting that happened in Farmerville on February 15th. The grand jury has indicted Holly on a charge of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentality against Holly. His attorney Mike Small is confident Holly will be found not guilty.

Mike Collins has been named the new head football coach at Neville High School. Collins replaces Jeff Tannehill who resigned earlier this week. Collins has been the team’s defensive coordinator the last two seasons and has 40 years of coaching experience at the high school and college levels.

Tough loss for the Pelicans last night as they lost to one of the NBA’s worst teams, San Antonio 111 to 109. New Orleans led by 15, but the Spurs hit 17 three-pointers as the Pels were without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Jose Alvarado. New Orleans is in seventh place in the West.

That’s more like it. The 18th ranked LSU baseball team defeated sixth ranked Vanderbilt ten to six yesterday. Josh Pearson got the scoring started with a solo home run in the third inning. The Tigers scored six runs in that inning and three more in the fourth inning to chase Vandy starting pitcher Gresyen Carter. Luke Holman was the winning pitcher and Griffin Herring pitched 3.1 innings of shutout ball to earn his third save. Game two tonight at 7 PM.

The Ragin Cajuns and U-L-M Warhawks begin a three-game series tonight in Lafayette. The Cajuns have the nation’s longest winning streak at 12 games. The Warhawks are 3-and-6 in the Sun Belt.

Louisiana Tech is home to take on Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders have lost six in a row. Tech’s Ethan Bates has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch list. He’s the first Bulldog player to be named to the list. He leads the Bulldogs in hits, RBIs and the country in saves.

When LSU hired Blake Baker as defensive coordinator, many wondered how he would maximize linebacker Harold Perkins. Baker says they are trying to find out what he does best and utilize his skill set….

LSU guard Hailey Van Lith did not declare for the WNBA draft. Instead, Van Lith is entering the transfer portal. The Washington native will look to play her final season of eligibility at another school. She averaged 12 points a game this past season.

Former Ragin Cajuns starting power forward Joe Charles is transferring to McNeese. Charles is from Carencro and averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds a game for U-L Lafayette this past season.

Lady Tigers guard Hailey Van Lith did not declare for the WNBA draft. She had 48 hours to do so following the loss to Iowa. But she is not returning to LSU. Van Lith has decided to enter the transfer portal after averaging 12 points a game this past season while learning the point guard position.

The Pelicans lost their third in a row last night, a 117 to 108 defeat to the Magic. And Zion Williamson has an injured finger. He did not play down the stretch in last night’s loss. New Orleans is trying to avoid the play-in tournament. They need to finish sixth or higher in the West and with six regular season games remaining, they are a half-a-game ahead of seventh place Sacramento and Phoenix. The Pels host San Antonio tomorrow.

The Saints have signed another linebacker. Former Washington Commander Khaleke Hudson. The former Michigan Wolverine played mostly special teams for Washington after he was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 draft.

The LSU gymnastics team competes in the NCAA Regionals tonight. They are in the Fayetteville Regional and will need to finish in the top two of tonight’s four-team session in order to compete in the regional final.
