The LSU Lady Tigers played a sloppy game but still got past the Rice Owls 70-60 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Coach Kim Mulkey displeased with the 24 turnovers her team committed….

Angel Reese led the team with six turnovers. But she had another double-double 10 points and 19 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers will play Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 2 PM. The Lady Raiders upset Louisville 71-69, rallying back from an 18-point first half deficit, third largest comeback in NCAA Women’s Basketball History.

Grambling’s historic season ended last night with a 78-50 loss to Purdue. The Tigers finished the year with a 21-15 record.

The fifth ranked LSU baseball team got back to great pitching and defense in a six to one win over sixth ranked Florida last night. Luke Holman struck out a career high 13 and allowed one run in six innings and Griffin Herring threw three shutout innings for the save. Florida had just four hits.

The Cajuns held Old Dominion to three hits in a three to nothing win. ULM and Georgia State will play a doubleheader today. So will Louisiana Tech and Jacksonville State.

Southeastern Louisiana stays hot with a five to nothing shutout win over Northwestern State, McNeese lost to the Northwestern Wildcats 12 to four and UNO was a four to one winner over Nicholls.

Nice win for the Pelicans last night as they defeated Miami 111 to 88. New Orleans played without Brandon Ingram who went down with a knee injury the night before and is expected to miss at least two weeks. Zion Williamson had just four points, but CJ McCollum had 30 points.

In the NFL…the Kansas City Chiefs traded former Louisiana Tech cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Titans for a couple of draft picks.

Fifth ranked LSU faces sixth ranked Florida this weekend at Alex Box Stadium in a rematch of last year’s national championship series. The Tigers are looking to rebound from a tough opening SEC weekend series loss to Mississippi State. Coach Jay Johnson expects his guys will bounce back….

Grambling State will try to pull off the massive upset tonight as they play top seeded Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are coming off their first NCAA Tourney win on Wednesday night. The Boilermakers are 29-4 and Big 10 regular season champs.

The Southland Conference Champion McNeese Cowboys season ended last night with an 86-65 loss to Gonzaga. Shahada Wells capped off his college career with a game-high 19 points. Wells is glad he was part of this special season…

A great season for McNeese came to an end last night in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament as they did not matchup well with Gonzaga and the Bulldogs clobbered the Cowboys 86-65. The Pokes shot just 33-percent from the field.
Grambling is still dancing, but they face top seeded Purdue tonight in Indianapolis.

The LSU Lady Tigers look to start another postseason run today as they host Rice in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Coach Kim Mulkey has won six NCAA championships, one as a player, one as an assistant coach and four as a head coach. NBA…the Pelicans lost to Orlando 121 to 106 and Brandon Ingram went down with a knee injury. New Orleans is at Miami tonight.

In college baseball last night…The Cajuns scored three runs in the eighth inning to beat McNeese four to one, Louisiana Tech topped Nicholls six to four. Northwestern State lost to Sam Houston State five to two, and Louisiana Tech softball beat U-L Lafayette 5 to 3. The Bulldogs ended their 31 game winning streak to U-L.

Ole Miss and Oklahoma, they will travel to those schools in 2025 and host Florida, South Carolina, Texas A-and-M and Arkansas. The 2025 road schedule is brutal with trips to Tuscaloosa, Oxford, Norman, Oklahoma and LSU opens the season at Clemson.

The LSU men’s basketball season came to an end last night with an 84-77 defeat to North Texas in the first round of the NIT. Second chance points were the difference, the Mean Green had 17 to LSU’s nine.

The Pelicans won again last night as they defeated the Brooklyn Nets 104 to 91. Another strong game for Zion Williamson who had 28 points and seven boards.

LSU’s pitching staff rebounded last night from a rough weekend in Starkville. The 5th ranked Tigers held Louisiana Tech to five hits in an 11 to 1 run rule victory over the Bulldogs. Seven pitchers took the mound and only one gave up a run was the starter, Javen Coleman. Coach Jay Johnson liked what he saw from his pitchers…

The Ragin Cajuns run ruled Southern 17 to 7, ULM ended a long homestand with an 11 to four loss to Central Arkansas.

Newly signed Saints defensive end Chase Young needs surgery on his neck. New Orleans knew about this before they signed him. Young is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Tech is coming off a sweep over Northwestern State. Ethan Bates, Cole McConnell and Dalton Davis are all having good seasons at the plate for the Bulldogs.

Inside the PMAC at six PM, the LSU basketball team will take on North Texas in a first round NIT matchup. The Tigers and Mean Green met in November at a tournament in Charleston and LSU won 66-62. North Texas won the NIT last year and the winner of this game will get the winner of tomorrow night’s game between Seton Hall and ST. Joseph’s.

The Saints have signed defensive end Chase Young to a one-year contract. The 24-year-old was the number two overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He’s played four NFL seasons and this will be his third team. He was drafted by Washington and traded to San Francisco on November first. Young signed his deal after visiting with Saints officials yesterday….

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Young needs surgery on his neck. The Saints are aware this procedure needs to get done and that Young could miss the start of training camp, but should be ready for the regular season.

The LSU Tigers dropped from two to number five in the D-1 baseball poll after losing the opening SEC series. Mississippi State scored 33 runs and the Tigers committed six errors as dropped two out of three in Starkville. Coach Jay Johnson says they scored enough runs to win a series on the road, but didn’t pitch well enough and the errors were also costly…

The Tigers will host Louisiana Tech tonight. The Bulldogs are coming off a sweep over Northwestern State and Tech is 16-5 on the season.

Also tonight, the Ragin Cajuns host Southern. U-L Lafayette has won six of its last eight and they will play 15 of its next 18 at home.

ULM closes out an eight game homestand tonight as they will take on Central Arkansas at 6 PM.

The Pelicans begin a four game road trip tonight at Brooklyn. New Orleans is one game back of the Clippers for the fourth spot in the Western Conference.

The Saints have signed defensive end Chase Young to a one-year, 13-million dollar contract. Young is the former number two overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 for Washington and was traded to San Francisco last year. He has 16.5 sacks in 43 career games. Young is is looking forward to playing with Cam Jordan…
