An alleged accomplice has been arrested in connection to the murder of Callie Brunett of Loranger and the kidnapping of her two daughters and the subsequent murder of the three-year-old daughter. Jackson police report, 32-year-old Victoria Cox been arrested. The children were found along with suspect Daniel Callahan in Jackson, Mississippi Thursday afternoon. Jackson PD has also arrested a second person allegedly involved, 32-year-old Victoria Cox. Police believe she has a romantic relationship with Callahan. Cox is in custody and being questioned by Jackson PD.

The Amber Alert for two girls from Loranger who ended up in Mississippi is being questioned. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards says the alert was issued by Louisiana State Police three hours after it was requested Thursday morning. Edwards told New Orleans Fox8 news he’s frustrated and that he’s reached out to the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association about the delay.  State Police have yet to comment. The FBI is now the lead agency in this investigation.

Site preparations for a nearly 3 billion dollar coastal restoration project in Plaquemines Parish are set to resume months after the state issued a stop-work order amid legal disputes. Mel Bridges has more.

What caused the boat to capsize remains unknown and when Martin was found he was not wearing a lift jacket.

A tragic ending to the search for two young girls from Loranger, who were discovered missing when their mother 35-year-old Callie Brunett was found deceased in their home Thursday morning. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Jimmy Travis describes what happened when law enforcement located Daniel Callahan in Jackson, Mississippi.

Travis told reporters they believe the mother, was killed on Tuesday. Callahan then took her car and fled with her daughters. Callie Brunett’s parents reported her missing late Wednesday night, and her father found her body inside her home around 8 a.m. Thursday.

The car was spotted on camera in McComb, Mississippi, Thursday morning. In Jackson law enforcement was suspicious when they saw Callaghan pulling on doors in a neighborhood. Once they chased him down on foot, he took them to the car where they found six-year-old Jalie Brunett alive. Callahan then led them to the body of three-year-old Erin Brunett.

Travis says Callahan is not the father of the two girls, but he dated the mother off and on.  While a motive has not been released, Travis hopes they’ll find out more once they can question him.

An Amber Alert has been issued for two missing girls whose mother was found murdered inside their home. Trooper William Huggins with State Police says the two girls were abducted from a home in Loranger before 8 AM this morning. LSP issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
