The process is starting on changing the name of Louisiana’s lone Army base, Fort Polk in Vernon Parish, which is named after Confederate General and Episcopal Leonidas Polk. Military complexes nationwide will be renamed to help quell ill feelings still being felt over the Civil War and slavery.
