The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s office has arrested the aunt of a two-year-old child who was left in a hot car in Destrehan for about six hours. 48-year-old Lezly Sanabria has been charged with negligent homicide. Deputies say Sanabria and the child went shopping with the child’s grandmother and when they returned home, Sanabria failed to check that the child was still in the car after items were unloaded from the vehicle.

An investigation into injuries to multiple State Police cadets during training last week has resulted in the reassignment of three troopers. There have been accusations that the injuries resulted from hazing, but State Police Colonel Kevin Reeves would not label the incident as such. He did say the training went beyond “normal parameters.”

Reeves says he has apologized to the cadets for the events that took place.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will provide in-state testing for Chronic Wasting Disease, a fatal ailment impacting deer, not yet detected in Louisiana, but in surrounding states. LDWF deer program manager Johnathan Bordelon says if hunters want to have their deer tested, they can pay $37.50 to have a test done.
