Homicides in New Orleans have fallen by nearly half from 2022, but according to the Times-Picayune, the number of murders in the French Quarter is at a 17-year-high. Seven people have been killed in the French Quarter this year and authorities do not have a firm answer on why there’s been an uptick in murders in the popular tourist destination.
State Senator Blake Miguez is seeking a legal opinion from the state attorney general over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus police enforcing a one-thousand foot gun free zone perimeter around the university’s museum in downtown Lafayette. Miguez says the museum should not be considered school property…
