Louisiana’s fourth grade students lead the country in reading growth according to the Nation’s Report Card which was released this morning by the National Center for Education Statistics. But the state saw declines in fourth grade math, eighth grade math and eighth grade reading. U-S math scores saw their largest decreases ever in the nation’s first report card issued since the pandemic.

New labor data shows Louisiana’s jobless rate continues to drop for a 19th straight month. More from Michelle Southern…:

There are eight constitutional amendments on the November eighth ballot. Amendment one asks residents if they support increasing the cap on the amount of monies in certain state funds that may be invested in stocks from 35 to 65-percent. The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and parish sheriff’s offices will distribute free child ID kits to students in kindergarten through fifth grades. National Child ID Program Director Kenny Hansmire says the kits do not enter a database, instead, it allows parents to store their children’s vital information in their own homes…
