The sales tax holiday in Louisiana is underway, today and tomorrow, the first 25-hundred on most purchases are exempted from the 4.45-percent state sales tax. NFIB State Director Dawn Starns says the legislature acting to revive the sales tax holiday this year is a win-win for consumers and businesses.

The exemption applies to in-store as well online and by phone purchases. Meals, rentals, and vehicles are excluded from the sales tax holiday.
Governor John Bel Edwards says Louisiana is in the third surge of the pandemic, but he doesn’t plan on implementing a stay-at-home order. Edwards says if everyone followed the rules in the current Phase 3 order, the state’s COVID-19 situation would improve…

Over the last three weeks, the parishes with the highest number of new cases over the last three weeks are Caddo, Ouachita, and East Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge Physician Chris Thomas urges citizens to take COVID seriously and follow mitigation measures. Thomas, an ICU physician at Our Lady of the Lakes hospital has not only been treating patients he contracted the virus as well. Thomas calls on everyone to act as a healthcare provider, step up and do their part, which includes doing what’s in the best interest of others even when it’s most difficult.

The Tigers are set to play at Arkansas tomorrow, but there have been positive cases within the Razorback football program. Freshman quarterback TJ Finley is expected to get the start for LSU. His last start versus Auburn did not go so well. But Tigers receiver Terrace Marshall expects Finley will bounce back…
