In Lafayette visitation is underway for former Governor Kathleen Blanco at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral. Visitation ends at 10 and then at 10:30 Mass, and her funeral will begin. Afterwards there will be a private family burial. Blanco, served one term as governor and has the distinction of being the only female governor in Louisiana. She was 76 years old.
Southwest and central Louisiana are under a flash flood watch this morning. The entire state could see one to three inches of rain before the weekend is over as a tropical wave passes through the state. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the threat of severe weather is minimal and even less than minimal the further north you go, but we certainly will see a good number of showers.
Keim says the showers should keep the mercury from rising, by keeping temperatures in the 80s.

Also on CBS, tonight at 6:30 the Saints take on the Jets in New York in their 3rd preseason game. Then they are back home to play Miami Thursday in the Dome. The last preseason game against the Dolphins will be broadcast on CBS, beginning at 7 o’clock. The official season is sixteen days away for the Saints. They’ll kickoff the first the Monday Night Football for the Season as they take on the Houston Texans at home.
