According to city records, it cost more than $2 million to remove the four confederate monuments in New Orleans. City officials say half of the money was from public funds, while the rest came from private donors. The city cut $90-thousand in costs to remove the Liberty Place monument, but the contractor who took three of the four statues down was out more than $200-thousand after the city refused to cover additional costs.

The Louisiana Republican Party is calling for Senator Karen Carter Peterson to step down as chair of the Democratic Party after she told another lawmakers to shut the f up. Haughton Representative Dodie Horton says it was chaos in the final minutes of the session when members of the black caucus continued to jeer in the back of the House floor.

Horton says Peterson later apologized via text.

Tickets for this weekend’s Super Regional between LSU and Mississippi State sold out in just 30 minutes, but a few are still available through the secondary market. StubHub spokesperson Johnna Hoff says they don’t normally see this much interest in college baseball tickets.
