An active search is underway for a suspect who shot two people early this morning on the Grambling State campus. State Police say a campus police officer was shot in the leg and the other victim is a non-student. Grambling authorities responded to reports of a shooting at the Frederick C Hobdy Assembly Center at 1:30 AM.

Former U-S Senate candidate Rob Maness says he’s leaving the Republican Party after media reports surfaced that G-O-P mega-donor Lane Grigsby floated the idea of offering a deal to Franklin Foil, asking him to drop out of a senate race and in exchange will receive help in running for a judicial seat. Maness says Grigsby’s substantial influence with gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone and other state leaders has convinced him to register as an independent.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Jared Cook did not practice for a second straight day because of injuries. New Orleans already knows cornerback PJ Williams will not play as he’s serving a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
