The investigation continues today into Sunday’s fatal helicopter crash in St. Charles Parish that killed one person and two individuals. The chopper crashed on an Entergy transmission line right-of-way in the marsh.

LSU football legend Billy Cannon has died at the age of 80. He’s the school’s only Heisman Trophy winner, but also ran into trouble with the law in the 1980s and served 2.5 years in prison for running a counterfeiting scheme. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.

Louisiana’s longest serving First Lady, Elaine Edwards, will be laid to rest today in Baton Rouge. Biographer Leo Honeycutt says Elaine Edwards was never thrilled with the political life, but served briefly as a US Senator, following the death of Allen Ellender in 1972….
