Governor John Bel Edwards and Attorney General Jeff Landry’s feud over the death penalty continues as the governor has fired off his own letter after Landry wrote a letter to Edwards accusing the governor of being an obstacle in carrying out executions of death row inmates. Edwards says the A-G is dliberately misrepresenting the facts…

Edwards says the state hasn’t carried out an execution since 2010 because the drugs needed to do so are not available.

Dangerously hot temperatures are expected over the next few days. State Climatologist Barry Keim says sunny skies combined with high humidity, will create unbearable conditions.

The man who was drunk and injured 32 people when his vehicle plowed into a crowd watching the Endymion parade in New Orleans in 2017 will be released today after serving just 17 months in prison. Nielson Rizzuto was sentenced to five years, but eligible for early release because he qualifies for Louisiana’s “good time parole” rules.
