The state will remember former Governor Kathleen Blanco today, first with an interfaith gathering at St. Joseph Cathedral beginning at 9:30.  Diocese of Baton Rouge spokesperson Deacon Dan Borne (Bor-nay) says about half of the cathedral is reserved for family but the public seating will likely fill fast.

It will be broadcast on Louisiana Public Broadcasting.

Beginning at 1pm the public is invited to pay their respects to the former governor at the State Capitol Rotunda, as she lies in state. Commissioner of Higher Ed and former Blanco Aide Kim Hunter Reed says there the public can learn more about who Blanco was, and what was most important to her.

A 70-year old Ruston man is behind bars now after a joint investigation with Louisiana State Police and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office solves a 2004 cold case. Lonnie Frazier Jr. was a person of interest in the missing person investigation of Cheryl Williams but there was insufficient evidence. But now they’ve found enough evidence to book Frazier for second degree murder. He was arrested Wednesday and is being held in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on a bond of one-million dollars.

The Eastbank Little League team from River Ridge is two wins away from competing in the Little League World Series championship game.
