January sixth also marks the official start of King Cake Season as the carnival season begins today with Twelfth Night. There are three parades in New Orleans tonight. And with Mardi Gras Day on February 20th, that means a little more than six weeks of king cake to enjoy.
The governor’s office says construction has started on the Lake Borgne Marsh Creation Project in St. Bernard Parish. Upon completion, the project will create and nourish about 27-hundred acres of marsh on the southern shoreline of Lake Borgne near Shell Beach.
