A bill to restrict what minors can see and read at public libraries – moves closer to passage after clearing a House committee Tuesday. Senate Bill 7, from Turkey Creek Republican Senator Heather Cloud, drew opposition in the House Education Committee from St. Tammany resident Joan Simon, who accuses Republicans of using the issue to score points with voters…:

Speaking for Senator Cloud’s bill was Attorney General (and candidate for Governor) Jeff Landry, who says his investigators found abundant evidence of adult material available for children to view in Louisiana libraries…:

The measure passed on an eight to three vote and heads to the House floor for possible final passage.

After emotional debate on the House floor, the lower chamber approved a bill that would allow non felons 18 years old and up to conceal a firearm without a permit. The vote was 71-to-29 in favor. Alexandria Democrat Ed Larvadain voted against it…

Twenty-nine-year-old Danielle Trapp of Deville is in the Rapides Parish Detention Center on child rape and human trafficking charges. Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tommy Carnline says they originally arrested on Trapp on April 17th, but their investigation led to her being re-arrested…
