The Louisiana Board of Regents approved a bachelor of science in artificial intelligence at LSU yesterday and created a new three-year accelerated bachelor’s degree classification. According to a news release, those degrees will be offered in bioinformatics and in information technology at LSU-Alexandria.

Rapides Parish remains in shock over the tragic death of former longtime sheriff William Earl Hilton, who was killed in what investigators are calling a hit-and-run. Current Sheriff Mark Wood says he’s devasted over the death of the 80-year-old Hilton.

A Senate committee approves legislation that gives lawmakers the ability to remove judges for malfeasance, gross misconduct or incompetence. Monroe Senator Jay Morris says his proposed constitutional amendment would keep repeat offenders from committing violent crimes. But Sarah Whittington of the ACLU of Louisiana says the state constitution already allows for the legislature to impeach a judge.
