The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression which formed over the Atlantic on Monday continued to move west this morning. they say at 4am, Depression No. 2 is east of Lesser Antilles. Little change is expected today and weakening is forecast by tomorrow night. Forecasters believe this depression will lose tropical characteristics by Thursday.

State Police say a husband and wife died in a two vehicle crash Monday in LaSalle Parish. They say 72-year-old Margie Moore and 83-year-old Bluith Moore rear-ended a car on LA Hwy 28 yesterday and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car and 8-year-old passenger were treated for moderate injuries.
The New Orleans Police Department says they’ve arrested a 75-year-old man in connection with the stabbing death of his long-time female companion in Treme over the weekend. They say the 58-year-old woman’s body was found in the street Sunday morning and she’d suffered multiple stab wounds. Tom Gibson is charged with second degree murder.
