The 20th-ranked LSU baseball team won another close SEC game last night as the Tigers topped the Crimson Tide 6 to 5. The Bayou Bengals scored five runs in the fifth and Dylan Crews’ RBI single in the sixth inning was the game-winning hit. Tre Morgan had three hits including his fourth home run of the season. LSU’s bullpen was fantastic as Riley Cooper, Eric Reyzelman, Jacob Hasty, and Paul Gervase were not charged any runs. LSU is now 7-and-3 in one-run games. Game two tonight in Tuscaloosa is at 7:30 PM.
The Cajuns had a walk-off win last night as Connor Kimple had a bases-loaded single in the ninth inning for a four to three win over UT Arlington. Kimple had three hits and the Cajuns have won 12 of their last 15.
ULM gave up three runs in the ninth inning and lost five to four to 17th-ranked Texas State.
Tough game for Louisiana Tech last night as they were blown out by Florida Atlantic ten to two at home. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Bulldogs. Game two is today at 2 PM and then a 10:30 start tomorrow.
The race for a Southland Conference regular-season championship is tight. Just one game separates the top six teams as a result of last night’s action. Nicholls, McNeese, HBU all lost, while UNO, Northwestern State, and Southeastern Louisiana all won. The Lions beat Houston Baptist six to five, while Northwestern State outscored McNeese 16 to 12. Jeffrey Elkins had a three-run inside the park home run and finished with 6 RBIs.
In the SWAC, Southern handled Arkansas Pine Bluff 13 to four, while Grambling edged Prairie View three to two to move within two games of the Panthers for first place in the West Division.
