A good ole fashion pitching duel at Alex Box Stadium lasat night and LSU came out on top beating Mississippi State two to one. The Tigers scored their two runs on solo home runs, Ethan Frey in the second inning and Luis Hernandez in the fifth inning.
But the pitching was the story of the game for LSU as they struck out 18 Bulldog hitters. Anthony Eyanson allowed one unearned run over five innings and struck out 12. Casan Evans pitched three innings of relief and struck out six. The Tigers go for the sweep this afternoon.
Also, the Cajuns defeated James Madison five to two, Arkansas State edged ULM four to three, UNO upended Southeastern four to one, Jackson State doubled up Grambling six to three, and Bethune Cookman outscored Southern 12-11.
The LSU women’s basketball team is moving on to the Elite Eight after a hard-fought 80-73 win over North Carolina State. The Lady Tigers were led by Aneesah Morrow, who had 30 points and 19 rebounds. Coach Kim Mulkey says it was another blue-collar game for Morrow…

ULM has found a new women’s basketball coach as Scotty Fletcher will replace Missy Bilderback who left to be the head coach at Southern Miss. Fletcher was successful at Pearl River Community College. He’ll be introduced on Monday.
