LSU Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri predicted low scoring games in their series versus 9th ranked Texas A-and-M and that’s what we got last night as the Tigers rallied with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings for a two to one victory. LSU tied the game on a misplay by the Aggies right fielder on a fly ball, which allowed Brandt Broussard to round the bases. And then in the eighth inning, Josh Smith launched his fourth home run of the season for a two to one lead. Devin Fontenot recorded the final five outs for the win. The two teams will play a doubleheader today, starting at two PM.

Louisiana Tech swept a doubleheader from U-T-S-A, winning the first game four to two. Matt Miller pitched eight strong innings for his fourth win of the year and in game two, the Bulldogs came back from a five to nothing deficit to win eight to seven. Tanner Huddleston had three hits and drove in three runs.

Northwestern State swept a doubleheader from Nicholls, winning seven to one and nine to seven.

Today is the LSU spring football game, but Coach Ed Orgeron has already warned fans that the offense playbook for today will be basic. However it is a chance to see the quarterbacks in action, incumbent starter Joe Burrow and his backup Myles Brennan. Also, Tiger fans will get their first chance to see freshman cornerback Derek Stingley Junior in action. He was rated as the nation’s number one prospect in the country for the 2019 recruiting class.

In LSU basketball news, Skylar Mays has joined teammates Naz Reid and Tremont Waters in announcing that he’s entering the NBA draft. Mays was the team’s third leading scorer and leader in the locker room. Under new rules, these players are able to come back to school, even if they sign an agent.

Yahoo Sports Reports that an FBI agent visited Baton Rouge to talk with suspended coach Will Wade about his recruiting tactics after he was removed from the sidelines. No word if the agent ever spoke with Wade and LSU says they were not aware of a federal agent coming to speak to Wade.
