At 3:30 today, 23rd ranked U-L Lafayette will tangle with 21st ranked Texas in Austin. The Cajuns are coming off a 10-and-1 season and they bring a seven game winning streak into the Lone Star state. It’s Steve Sarkisian’s first game as head coach of Texas.
ULM and Louisiana Tech are both on the road today, taking on SEC teams. The Warhawks are at Kentucky as it’s the first game with Terry Bowden as ULM’s head coach. The Warhawks’ last win over an SEC opponent came in 2012 over at that time eighth-ranked Arkansas.
Louisiana Tech is at Mississippi State. Tech is expected to lean on its defense as they return ten starters on that side of the football.
Tulane is at second-ranked Oklahoma. McNeese hosts the defending champs in Division Two, West Florida. Despite extensive hurricane damage in Lafourche Parish, Nicholls is at Memphis. Instead of playing in Hammond, Southeastern Louisiana is at North Alabama. Southern is at Troy at 6 PM.
High school football last night, there were a pair of games that featured teams that won a state championship last December. Madison Prep came from behind to beat St. Thomas More 38-35, Acadiana edged Carencro nine to seven. In north Louisiana, Neville nipped Ruston 27 to 24, Mangham upset Oak Grove 27 to 23 and Union Parish defeated Many 42-32.
