Cassidy introduced the legislation yesterday and it has the support of Democrats. Under current law, new parents can only receive a two-thousand dollars tax credit during a child’s first year of life.
U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement say about 50 migrants at the Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield were pepper-sprayed to end their protest over prolonged detention. Spokesman Bryan Cox says the action resulted in protesters becoming compliant and no injuries were reported. There are about eight-thousand immigrant detainees at Louisiana prisons.
